Our Ultimate Heritage Challenge to you, dear postcard warriors: one postcard per day during September. Try some of the postcard art ideas we offer through this month. Prizes will be drawn for three winners who have tried at least three different ideas that we’ve shared through the month of September. We’ll know because your cards will ‘show’ us.
Deadline: we must receive your Ukrainian Heritage Month challenge postcards in our mailbox by October 20.
Postcard Challenge – Flowerpot
Today’s postcard art is a houseplant in a flowerpot. It was such a lovely autumn day that I decided to take my houseplants outside to re-pot with some fresh soil. In my quiet thoughts, I imagined that the living/work spaces of Defenders could probably used something green and cheerful. So, I decided to send them a houseplant, on a postcard!
Meanwhile, there’s just a week left to Ukrainian Heritage Month. Have you visited a local Ukrainian restaurant, café or bakery yet?
The flowerpot tutorial by @sincerelystac is less than a minute, easy to follow, and gave me everything I needed to know to draw a simple heart-shaped houseplant in a flowerpot.
All you need are: postcard, pencil, green & brown pens/markers, another colour for table cloth. I chose blue.
Here are the steps of my effort, from pencil drawing to written card:
