Saturday, September 12, 2026 – Buy Ukrainian
Support a Ukrainian business or a business in your community that shares profits for humanitarian or other support for Ukraine.
Here are some Ukrainian postcard shops that you can buy from: from: Zolota Ptakha, PostalUkraine, UA Postcards which also offers Postcards for a Purpose, where you can buy a postcard to be written to a Russian embassy or consulate, one for the Hospitals and Healing project, or send one to a US leader, among other options.
If you like stamps … UkrPoshta produces stamps that tell the story of Ukraine since the invasion, in real time. The Snake Island standoff is a pretty popular issue.
Let us know of other Ukrainian postcard shops that we can share.
Postcard Challenge – East Florals
I’m writing postcards purchased along the way as we travel, and wonder: do you have postcards tucked away in a shoebox or in a drawer that you meant to write on vacation but didn’t get around to it? If so, consider writing those postcards to Defenders. Tell them about the place you visited, your experience there. After all, every postcard is intended to both boost their morale and give them some distraction from the hard and dangerous work of defending their country.
Today I chose an Iceland map postcard on which I painted some water colour blobs, then drew some simple florals using a black gel pen. This floral idea is inspired by @brittney.leavitt on Instagram. This IG creator has quite a few easy-to-do creative ideas specifically targeting postcards. Et voilà! A quick-and-easy way to jazz up my postcard with some colourful creativity.

It’s not a complicated effort and doesn’t require many tools, nor much time. I left enough room to write about a touristic day in Iceland and managed to squeeze in a couple of phrases in Ukrainian. I always keep our Ukrainian phrase translations handy!
Tomorrow … a handful of faces.

Each day through Ukrainian Heritage Month, we’ll share some easy-to-do ideas that you can try on your postcards to Defenders. 30 days. 30 cards. Simple art.
Our Ultimate Heritage Challenge to you, dear postcard warrior: one postcard per day during September. Try some of the postcard ideas we offer. Prizes will be drawn for three winners who have tried at least three of the ideas that we’ve shared through the month of September. We’ll know because your cards will ‘show’ us. Deadline: we must receive your Ukrainian Heritage Month challenge package of postcards in our mailbox by October 20.
