Postcard Challenge – Unicorn

Did you know … the unicorn is the national animal of Scotland?

My youngest grandchild is into unicorns – she believes that I’m a unicorn in human disguise because of my pink, blue, purple hair colour [over the grey]. Of course I am! 😉

So, today’s the day that I draw a unicorn for a Defender.

It took me a while to find one that I felt I could draw: @corrinacampbe11. The drawing part was quite easy. However, colouring the beast was a bit of a challenge because I wanted to get the white right, blending with grey, on a whitish background. But, I persisted and am happy with the outcome. I learned that making certain features pop with white – eyes, ears, nose and mouth – gives the illusion that the unicorn is white. Phew!

What you need: postcard [of course]; pencil; fine black gel pen; colourful markers, gel pens – you know, the rainbowy kind that unicorns like! And a white gel pen.

Here are the steps outlined in images. Start first with the eyes, ears, horn. Then face, neck, wave and embellishments. Colour. Write message to Defender.
