Three cheers to you, postcard warriors!
On this Canada Day – July 1st – we celebrate the achievement of an astonishing milestone, with thanks to all of you!
More than 50,000 postcard messages of support have traveled from Australia (27,160) and Canada (23,578) to the front lines in Ukraine. That’s a WHOLE LOTTA LOVE! Дякую! THANK YOU!
Three cheers to Tamara at home base in Ukraine who keeps this project going, and to the volunteers who gather, pack and distribute your postcards to Defenders at the front lines.
And while we’re celebrating … three cheers to Brigitte in Québec! We just received her 2,000th postcard and are certain that the Defender who receives it will feel warmth and care from her supportive words.
Postcard text: Courageous Defender of Ukraine, Your strength is a living prayer for your nation. The world listens to you carefully. Slava Ukraini! Heroyam slava! We love you, Brigitte, Canada.
Ukraine is into it’s fifth year of full-scale russian terror, although the invasion actually began more than a decade ago with the invasion of Crimea.
While we read some positive news of Ukraine’s courage, strength and skill at pushing back the front line, as well as hindering the russian war machine, the fact is that Ukrainians continue to feel considerable pain, sorrow and hardship.
While Defenders have accomplishments to celebrate, they still have much more work to do to defend their homeland, protect their families, and to preserve their culture. Certainly, they are fatigued. But they don’t have the luxury of time to rest.
Dear postcard warriors, let’s keep the momentum of messages of love, care, support and hope going!
Rather than granting ourselves the luxury of rest from the fatigue of news of the war on Ukraine, we encourage you to stay the course, stay engaged and informed, and to continue to do what can to support Ukraine.
On this Canada Day, as we reflect on the accident of geography that affords us life in a free, safe and beautiful country, we are dedicating some time to Defenders by writing a few postcards.
Many thanks for staying with this global project, for your care and continued support of Ukraine. More than 50,000 postcards have traveled from your hearts, dear postcard warriors, into the hands of courageous, hard-working, homesick Defenders.
