This is our fourth year running a Christmas in Summer campaign.
Why July?

Because we need lots of lead time for cards to arrive at the front lines, in time for the holidays.
It is imperative that you send your cards to us by July 31st. Cards that are sent later may arrive late at the front lines.
Last year, we gathered 2,815 holiday postcards for Defenders.

Already – even before we announced the campaign! – we received our first batch of 55 lovely Christmas cards for Defenders, with MANY THANKS to Anne for the mailbox surprise!
Need Christmas / festive themed cards? We’ve got some!
Be in touch and we’ll be happy to send you some to write to Defenders.
First-come-first-served, until we run out.
Ready to write your Christmas cards to Defenders?
Below are a few phrases for you to consider in your messages. Some writing in Ukrainian always brings a huge happy smile! The 2nd and 3rd phrases are more secular, if you prefer.
Please note: Ukraine is a country of many faiths. Also, not all Ukrainians practice a faith. Therefore, we encourage you to write heartfelt messages of care and love; messages that offer light and warmth, rather than a strictly religious message.
Your messages of love and support will be a precious gift to a Defender who will likely feel rather alone during the winter holidays, away so long from the warmth and love of home, family and friends. Thank you!

– Let Christmas light to shine mentally.
(a bit of wordplay as they often don’t have electricity)
– Happy holidays! We pray for you!
– Let holidays bring happiness and calmness into your home.
– Merry Christmas! I wish you a kindness and bravery!
– Whenever you are – Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
– I wish you to have a Christmas table [in the meaning of dinner] with your family as soon as possible.

Your cards do make a difference, as Danylo tells us from the front lines –
Nothing warms the soldiers’ heart as a handwritten letter.
