Oshawa
Our local community, Oshawa Stand with Ukraine, gathered at the Albert Street bridge over Highway 401 with many from the community attending, as they have every Sunday since the full-scale invasion four years ago, then trekked over to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church to pray for Ukraine and to write postcards to Defenders. Local politicians from all levels of government once again showed their support for Ukraine, as we have reported in past articles, demonstrating sustained support for Ukraine within the community, and amongst all levels of government officials.

Australia
While our cousins in Australia continue their efforts to support Ukraine through rallies and postcard-writing, our postcard sister, Kerry, at Postcards to the Front Australia, went an “extra mile” … Yup! Kerry did a 10k run to raise funds for Ukrainian children. She enjoyed it so much that she’s going back into training for a June run for Ukraine. You can support her here.

Ottawa
The russian embassy protesters organized a special event after the Parliament Hill gathering in support of Ukraine that featured guest speaker Juris Ulmanis, Latvian academic, entrepreneur, mountaineer, polar explorer and active volunteer supporting Ukraine. During past visits to Canada, Juris has joined the rep’ers to march the pavement outside the russian embassy and has written postcards to Defenders for this project. Presently, Juris focuses his attention on the evacuation of injured Defenders from the front lines to Latvia to receive medical care. After his talk about Latvia’s contributions to support Ukraine, attendees wrote postcards that Juris will take back to Latvia to distribute amongst Defenders in hospitals there.

The Netherlands
Not only are Canadians marching daily outside the russian embassy since February 24, 2022 — our friends in The Netherlands also march, AND protect the Ukrainian flag, every day for four years! Images from facebook.
