Nelia Fedash
We met Nelia at Ukrainian Independence Day events in Toronto, Ontario in August, where she wrote a poem on her postcard to a Defender; Hello, soldier,
Hello, soldier,

I am writing you a letter
In which I don’t know what to say,
Because this damn war is going on
And my life must go on.
Because wherever I go now,
I think of you and pray,
That the enemy bullet will pass by,
That the disaster will pass by you and the child,
That is waiting for the father from afar
And counts every minute.
You hold on, take care of yourself
And take care of Ukraine,
That the enemy bullet will pass by
We are all waiting for you,
Soldier, defending the homeland!
