What a fabulously fun June week we enjoyed at the 51st annual Oshawa Fiesta Week where Lviv and Odesa pavilions invited us to set up writing tables for Postcards to the Front! More than 700 postcard messages of support were written by visitors of all ages, mostly Canadian but a few also from Germany and Poland. A staggering amount of love on the way to Ukraine’s front line Defenders!
A few VIPs made time to learn more about Ukraine’s Defenders and to write postcards: Miss Lviv and the present and past Little Miss Lvivs, Miss Odesa, Miss Poznan, the Odesa Ukrainian Dancers, the Lviv Dance Ensemble, MP Rhonda Kirkland (Oshawa), MPP Jennifer French (Oshawa), and Councillors Corinna Traill, Granville Anderson and Tito-Dante Marimpietri. Not to forget hundreds of visitors to the pavilions and Fiesta mascot Globie!
Many thanks to every postcard warrior who wrote messages of love and support to Ukraine’s Defenders, and to the incredible group of volunteers from Oshawa’s Ukrainian community who helped us staff the Postcards to the Front table every night of Fiesta – as well as support other aspects of our endeavors!
We are also very grateful for the sponsorship of the BCU Foundation that has this year funded the cost of shipment of most postcards to Ukraine.
