    During travels in Africa, we connected with the Ukrainian Association of South Africa (UAZA), which has now hosted two successful postcard-writing events. UAZA participated in A Taste of Belgium, raising awareness about Ukraine and showcasing Odesa souvenirs. Many South Africans expressed solidarity, writing postcards to Defenders at the front lines, fostering connections between nations.

    Irena, a stamp collector for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, passed away from cancer this summer. In her memory, stamps are still being sent to BCRT. Supporters like Marcus recommend other projects for donating stamps. Various charities, including Oxfam Canada and Stamps for the Wounded,, accept used stamps for fundraising.

    Love, from South Africa

    This autumn, we visited South Africa for a monument unveiling at the CP Nel Museum in Oudtshoorn, commemorating 500 Polish orphans, survivors of WWII Soviet labour camps. Attendees wrote postcards to Defenders of Ukraine and met Dzvinka Kachur from the Ukrainian Association of South Africa. More updates on this initiative are forthcoming.

    Ruslan Kurt, a Crimean-Ukrainian activist artist created the “Doors Through the Horrors of War” installation, showcasing doors damaged by Russian aggression, and representing the loss experienced by Ukrainians. The project aims to convey solidarity and the importance of supporting Ukraine in its fight for freedom.
