A timely photo has arrived from the front lines in Ukraine, sent the same day that U.S. President Trump released his 28-point plan for Ukraine. The same day that the bombing is worse than ever, right across Ukraine, as if to hint that Russia has no intention of letting up.

Ukrainians face with the most profound existential question since the full-scale invasion in February 2022. As President Zelenskyy puts it, the plan puts Ukrainians between a rock and a hard place, facing a choice between a partner or dignity.
