What better way to celebrate autumn than to write messages of support and gratitude to Defenders, while eating awesome Ukrainian food?!

The popular Perogy Fest is held each year in Huntsville, Ontario, where the autumn colours blanket the landscape, and the sausage and perogy (varenyky – bареники) dinner help one’s body ready itself to hibernate for the coming winter. 😉 The Rotary Club of North Muskoka hosts Perogy Fest to raise funds for various organizations. This year, funds were diverted to MindAid, Enliven Cancer Care, and to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation. Thank you to Nick “Perogy” Paroschy for inviting us!

Our dear friends, Darlene, Christine and Carol traveled from Oshawa to encourage Perogy Fest visitors to write postcards to Defenders. What a *wonderful* batch of heartfelt messages! Such as this series of three cards written by a 93-year-old Ukrainian-Canadian woman whose grandparents immigrated to Canada in 1889. After 135 years in Canada, the Ukrainian language remains.
These lovely gals are awesome! Christine has been a generous card contributor, and we are certain Carol keeps a stash of cards in her purse at all times, in case she can nudge her knitting group or other friends to write postcards to Defenders! And Darlene and her MC partner, Walter, did a marvelous job encouraging visitors at the Odesa Pavilion during Oshawa’s Fiesta Week in June to write postcards. You terrific gals do so much for Postcards to the Front that you give a special warmth to our hearts! Thank you!
