Christmas campaign is ongoing

It’s the end of summer in Ukraine. We wonder how farmers are coping during their third harvest under attack?

Postcards to the Front Canada home base is nestled in a beautiful valley in the little village of Millbrook, Ontario. The area is rural, surrounded by farmland and forests. Sunflowers stand tall and proud in fields. Potatoes are being harvested. Pumpkins are plump. Winter wheat has been planted. Local corn is delicious and we still enjoy local strawberries. Some trees have begun to dress in autumn colour.

Every day, volunteers in Ukraine pack postcards for Defenders. Defenders are happy to receive your messages of support, along with essentials, such as netting.

Look at this kozak postcard, a creation of Ukrainian-Canadian artist Olex Wlasenko. A bunch of these cards written by the Oshawa, Ontario Ukrainian community have finally arrived at the front lines! Text: Heroes do not die. Ukrainians remember.

Did you know … ? Ukrainian kozak / козак comes from the Turkic kazak, meaning free man.

Our Christmas in July campaign is ongoing. We hope you can get your holiday greetings into the mail to us by September 30th. Not sure what to write? Here are some Ukrainian phrases for you to add to your messages. Just one will surely bring a happy smile and give some extra warmth!

Нехай світло Різдва осяє вас духовно.  –

Let Christmas light to shine mentally.

Зі святами! Ми молимось за вас!  –

Happy holidays! We pray for you!

З Різдвом! Бажаю вам добра і звитяги!  –

Merry Christmas! I wish you a kindness and bravery!

З Різдвом Христовим!  –

Merry Christmas!

Веселих свят!  –

Happy Holidays!

Please note: Ukraine is a country of many faiths. Also, not all Ukrainians practice a faith. So, we encourage you to write heartfelt messages of good cheer, love and hope, rather than a strictly religious message.

Your words are precious gifts. From you to a Defender.
